Reminder of changes to IPO services from 1 April 2026

From 1 April 2026 there will be several changes to the IPO's services:

Patent service goes live: the IPO's new patents service goes live on 1 April 2026. The new service will allow customers to apply for, manage and renew UK patents in one place.

See our news story for what to expect ahead of the public launch.

eOLF payments: from 1 April 2026, you will no longer be able to submit UK (GB) patent applications using the EPO Online Filing service (eOLF).

Fees: the IPO will be increasing its fees for patents, trade marks and designs from 1 April 2026.

For customers who may have fees due around this time, IPO has published guidance, as well as a full list of the new fees.

Service down time: in order to make the new changes, a number of IPO web pages will be unavailable from 18:00 on Tuesday 31 March until 12:00 noon on Wednesday 1 April:

• from 18:00 - all patent, trade mark and designs fee-bearing forms

• from 22:00 - all digital renewals services and our new patents services, including Manage intellectual property and Apply for a patent

For further advice on any of the above changes, please contact us using one of the methods listed on our website.
