Turns out the severe weather last week, specifically on Tuesday, June 30, was more than just some serious wind as it's now being reported that two tornadoes hit the region – an EF1 over land tornado blew through Verona, Harrowsmith and Hartington after the thunderstorm system in the afternoon, and an EF0 over land tornado took a long path of tree damage from Silver Corners southeastward to CFB Kingston. Our reporters are following up on the story. In other local news, the Glenora ferry will be out of service until further notice due to mechanical issue. According to the MTO, the issue is in regard to the ferry’s shore ramp. Nancy Nicol, a Kingston-based filmmaker and activist, recently became a Member of the Order of Canada for her international impact on 2SLGBTQI+ rights. And, Keisha Halladay is one of the first women to join a grueling three-day 200-kilometre Yakathon paddle from Kingston to Ottawa.
